Coach E has previously served as an assistant coach at Dalles-Wahtonka High School and as the co-offensive coordinator at Willamette High School. He played college football at Montgomery College and is a two-time state champion in the state of Virginia. In addition to his coaching experience, Eric is also a full-time personal trainer, bringing a strong foundation in strength and conditioning that will benefit our student-athletes both on and off the field.
Coach Scott is currently in Virginia, where he has been coaching at his former high school. He will be flying back to Eugene soon to meet with our players and families and begin laying the groundwork for an exciting new chapter of South Eugene football.
Raul Gil-Azamar is a devoted husband and father, raising four sons—three of whom played football and a daughter who is not only eager to play flag football in high school but also currently plays volleyball. In July 2023, he moved from Arizona to Eugene. Raul's football journey started at Marana High School and has since grown into a fulfilling coaching career that spans multiple levels of the sport.
His love for the game was evident in his relentless drive and commitment on the field, qualities that have continued to define his coaching philosophy.
After hanging up his cleats, Coach Gil transitioned into coaching a few years later, where he first dedicated his efforts to nurturing the talents of 7-8 year olds coaching his own boys. This early experience ignited a lifelong mission: to share the game he loves with new generations and to impart the invaluable life lessons football teaches.
Coach Gil's journey eventually led him back to high school football, where he took on the role of Defensive Coordinator for the JV team. Here, he honed his coaching techniques, emphasizing not just the physical aspects of the game, but also the mental toughness and discipline required to succeed both on and off the field.
An advocate of old-school coaching methods, he believes in building character and resilience in his players. He is committed to making young athletes both physically and mentally tougher, preparing them to face the challenges of life head-on. His coaching style is a blend of rigorous training, strategic acumen, and heartfelt mentorship, all aimed at fostering a strong team spirit and individual growth.
For Coach Gil, football is more than a sport; it's a powerful educational tool. He takes immense joy in guiding young athletes, watching them evolve into not just better players, but also well-rounded individuals. Through his dedication and passion, Coach Gil continues to leave an indelible mark on the football community, inspiring the next generation to strive for excellence and embody the true spirit of the game.
